As the official title for this episode, it is absolutely a fan-service episode. Starting off with a hot-spring scene involving the four main heroines in the series, I sure like where it’s going.
The following may contain some explicit scenes and spoilers.
Please do proceed on with extreme caution. Sorry, I mean tissue boxes. You have been warned.
Great poses at almost every angle huh. Now I’ve got my hands dirty. *ahem* Alright on the main topic, this prologue seems more like the conclusion for the series, or at least this season (too early to determine if there’ll be a season 2), where the setting is six months after the story first started in Episode 1.
Episode 00 is more of a parody prologue and is not supposed to be taken seriously! It has close to zero influence on the original story, so just accept whatever the producers are offering.
Saekano’s producers served a good appetizer, and now I’m hungry for the main course.
I personally like the laid-back and comedic style this episode has displayed. The main heroines also had their different personalities being showcased, such as a cool-beauty, tsundere, tomboy and a quiet girl. These may be the usual and common personalities of the heroines in a typical harem, but it is the way of delivering the story to the viewers, and Saekano did well with that.
Katou’s unique personality had caught my attention the most. The irony there though. She lacks the presence, and gives almost zero shit to any happenings. And I’d say, she already made herself a good heroine for the game they’re making.
Oh, before I forget. The opening and ending songs were catchy despite being a slow and peaceful pace kind of music. Not to mention, the opening is performed by Haruna Luna, the one who sung the first ending song for the well-known Sword Art Online, “Overfly”. Ending song is performed by Sawai Miku, who also sung the first ending for Akame ga Kill. Right, the notorious anime that finished recently which was flamed for killing characters one after another.
